define god
First, define god,
A task both simple and profound,
For without definition,
We’re chasing shadows on the ground.
Is god the whisper in the wind,
The heartbeat of the earth,
The flame that flickers in the dark,
Or the silence after birth?
To know if such a being exists,
We must first give it form,
A word, a shape, a meaning clear,
Amidst the cosmic storm.
Define god as Existence,
In every breath, in every tree,
In the stars that light the night,
In you, in me in we
Existence, ever-present,
Beyond the veil of doubt,
For if god is all that is,
Then god is all about.
But if you want god not to be,
A specter of the mind,
Define god as a mythic tale,
In sacred texts confined.
A god of ancient scriptures,
Bound by pages worn and old,
A tale of wrath and mercy,
In a world of stories told.
To my cats, I am a god,
Their food, their warmth, their love,
Their lives depend on me alone,
As stars depend on skies above.
Imagine then, a furry friend,
A being grand and kind,
To care for us, to shelter us,
To heal our hearts and minds.
But look around, this god exists,
In nature’s vast embrace,
The cosmos cradles every soul,
In its eternal grace.
The sun that warms, the rain that falls,
The earth that gives us birth,
The endless dance of life and death,
The sacred pulse of earth.
So if you seek a god to find,
In every star and tree,
Define it not by ancient lore,
But by existence,
wild and free.
